James earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Economics from Lehigh University. Prior to Sequoia, he was a senior manager research analyst at PNC Private Bank. He was also a manager research analyst at Xponance, formerly FIS Group. Previously, James was an equity analyst at Chartwell Investment Partners.

He began his career in operations at Fiserv Securities. James is a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society of Philadelphia.
