In his 40 years in the financial industry, Matthew Karpas has built strong client relationships based on integrity, honesty, and trust. He prizes personal service and responsiveness and takes a great deal of pride in providing continuous guidance and support as client priorities and needs evolve.
His strong client relationships often result in multi-generational asset management. Seventy-five percent of his team’s assets under management are from relationships spanning one or more generations, and two-thirds of assets under management are female-owned.

Matthew believes in a disciplined, consistent investment process where every client portfolio is uniquely designed to meet each client’s needs according to their time horizon and goals. Everything starts with the client, and the question ‘Where do you want to go?’ As priorities and needs evolve, Matthew is a true partner, sharing guidance and support.

Matthew holds a B.S. in International Business and Finance from the Leeds School of Business, University of Colorado, Boulder. For more than 30 years, he led the investment management firm, Karpas Strategies, and prior to that, worked at J.P. Morgan and Co. in New York and Tokyo.

Matthew has spent the past twenty years actively involved in his community. In the past, he has served as president of the Oliver Wolcott Library and as Board Chair of CJR, a Connecticut state-wide non-profit organization dedicated to the mission of providing the necessary therapeutic treatment, education, and support for young people and their families to promote positive change and transform lives. He is a current board member of the Union Savings Bank Foundation and Treasurer of the Seherr-Thoss Foundation, a private grant-making foundation that supports capital improvement projects for local organizations in the Litchfield community.
